With Rum Ether, the rum & fruit effect is most useful when it strengthens the intended accord rather than drawing attention to the raw material itself.

Its limitation appears at higher levels, where the result can become solvent-like, yeasty, or overpowering. A blotter establishes direction, but the finished base shows whether Rum Ether is supporting the formula or beginning to obscure it.
