Description
Hedione has a transparent jasmine-like aroma with citrus-floral light, soft petals and faint tea warmth. It does not behave like a dense white floral. The raw material can seem understated, while its effect becomes clearer inside a complete fragrance.
Perfumers use Hedione for radiance, diffusion and space. It can open jasmine accords, lift citrus florals and give woods, musks or colognes more air without inserting an obvious new note. Its value is often structural rather than immediately recognisable.
Assess it in the full formula. A high level can wash out contrast and make the composition feel thin or overly abstract, even when the material itself does not smell forceful.

Hedione
CAS: 24851-98-7
Odour (decreasing): Floral, Jasmine
Uses: Probably the most widely used aroma chemical in all of perfumery. Very useful in citrus as well as virtually all florals, Hedione can improve many fragrance types and can be effective in doses from under 1% to 50% of the formula. Works as both fixative and exalting agent in most compounds and blends well with the majority of ingredients both natural and synthetic.
