Description
Ethyl Vanillin brings a powerful, sweet, creamy, and intensely vanilla-like character, but the material does not remain fixed there. Given time, warm confectionery depth, soft balsam, and a persistent sugary trace becomes more apparent, changing how it sits beside the rest of the formula.
Rather than acting as a finished fragrance, it can supply a specific accent, strengthen the central accord, or connect neighbouring materials, especially in vanilla accords, gourmands, ambers, chocolates, soaps, candles, and warm fragrance bases. With Ethyl Vanillin, the vanilla & depth effect is most useful when it strengthens the intended accord rather than drawing attention to the raw material itself.
Restraint preserves its role. An excessive dose can make the formula cloying, burnt-sugar-like, or dominant. A blotter establishes direction, but the finished base shows whether Ethyl Vanillin is supporting the formula or beginning to obscure it.

Odour (decreasing): Sweet, vanilla, vanillin, powdery, chocolate. Powerful.
Slightly more chocolaty vanilla note than vanillin and much more powerful. The tenacity is outstanding, and the odour power only demonstrated in dilutions of this chemical.
Uses: Ethyl Vanillin is often used to substitute a larger amount of Vanillin in a fragrance when a discolouration problem arises. The discolouration hazard can be reduced, and the sweetness maintained although there will be a loss in physical fixation effect.
