Description
Dihydromyrcenol brings a bright, citrusy, lavender-like, and intensely fresh character, but the material does not remain fixed there. Given time, clean lime, cool herbs, and a dry modern trace becomes more apparent, changing how it sits beside the rest of the formula.
Its role is to support the accord’s floral or aromatic body and make its central idea read more clearly; that is particularly useful in colognes, fougères, sport fragrances, soaps, shampoos, and fresh citrus blends. With Dihydromyrcenol, the citrus & clean effect is most useful when it strengthens the intended accord rather than drawing attention to the raw material itself.
Its limitation appears at higher levels, where the result can become harsh, generic, or detergent-like. A blotter establishes direction, but the finished base shows whether Dihydromyrcenol is supporting the formula or beginning to obscure it.

Dihydromyrcenol has a strong, complex odour now distinctively associated with masculine fragrances and cosmetics. The material shows some tendency to polymerization, whereby it loses odour and increases in viscosity. With proper inhibitor added, it is fairly stable against such deterioration.
Uses: Can be used in all product types and at relatively high levels. Useful in soap perfumes, all-purpose cleaners and as a powerful supporting note under Lime oils in Citrus and Lime-type fragrances.
