Description
Cyclamen Aldehyde begins with an impression of fresh, watery, floral, and slightly green. As the material settles, clean muguet petals, airy moisture, and a soft ozonic trace becomes more apparent, giving the profile more depth than its first impact suggests.
In cyclamen and muguet accords, aquatic florals, soaps, shampoos, and clean fragrances, its practical value is the ability to give the opening lift and definition while separating notes that might otherwise feel blurred. With Cyclamen Aldehyde, the watery & floral effect is most useful when it strengthens the intended accord rather than drawing attention to the raw material itself.
Above its useful range, Cyclamen Aldehyde can read as metallic, thin, or detergent-like. A blotter establishes direction, but the finished base shows whether Cyclamen Aldehyde is supporting the formula or beginning to obscure it.

Cyclamen Aldehyde
CAS: 103-95-7
Odour (decreasing): Floral-cyclamen, fresh, linden-blossom, green, rhubarb
Unlike many aldehydes it is stable in most media and its substantivity makes it very useful. Not quite as strong as most of the saturated aliphatic aldehydes, it is still best used in dilution.
Uses: Widely used in compositions where a sweet, floral character is desired. It is more stable than hydroxycitronellal and has a more powerful odour, although it lacks somewhat the tonality of the latter. It is highly resistant to alkalis and is not irritating to the skin.
