Description

Butyric Acid is a volatile technical raw material with an extremely strong rancid, cheesy and sour odour. Unlike many cosmetic acids, its sensory impact can dominate the formulation and persist on equipment or in the workspace.

The material should only be considered where there is a clearly defined technical reason for its inclusion. Dilution may reduce intensity, but it does not guarantee an acceptable finished-product odour. Compatibility, pH, volatility, process, packaging and residual scent all need deliberate evaluation.

This is not a casual beginner ingredient. Work with appropriate controls, ventilation and current safety documentation, and confirm the intended application before beginning formulation trials.
