Butyl Lactate is a mild technical solvent with a softly sweet, faintly ester-like odour. It is not intended to supply a fragrance narrative or decorative scent effect; its value lies in how it supports controlled dilution and processing.

Uses: As a fragrance additive in cosmetics and personal care applications, this ester adds synthetic butter, butterscotch, caramel, or fruit notes to formulations. Butyl lactate is also used as a solvent for creams, lotions, fragrances, and soaps.
