Description

With rich, violet-like, woody, and softly fruity at the front and powdery petals, raspberry nuance, and dry cedar warmth emerging later, Beta-Ionone offers a clear two-stage profile.

Perfumers can draw on it in violet accords, iris effects, berry florals, woods, tobacco ideas, and fine fragrance to bridge floral and woody sections while adding violet-like body and polish. With Beta-Ionone, the violet & wood effect is most useful when it strengthens the intended accord rather than drawing attention to the raw material itself.

Evaluate it in the finished base, where any tendency towards dusty, dry, or overly cosmetic is easier to judge. A blotter establishes direction, but the finished base shows whether Beta-Ionone is supporting the formula or beginning to obscure it.

Beta-Ionone

CAS: 14901-07-6

Odour (decreasing): Floral-violet, woody, sweet, fruity-raspberry, green.

Uses: It finds its way more into fragrances rich in woody notes. It is also widely used in lipstick fragrances on account of its compatibility with fruity fragrance materials. This material can produce an effective illusion of the smell of raspberries. It has a role as an antioxidant and a fragrance.
