Description
Oregano Essential Oil has a powerful herbaceous aroma with hot dried leaf, phenolic spice, bitter warmth, and a sharp medicinal edge. It does not behave like a gentle kitchen herb. The essential oil is much stronger, more pungent, and more forceful than dried oregano in a jar.
The first impression is hot and unmistakable, then the scent settles into bitter herb and dry medicinal spice. This makes Oregano useful only in very careful low-dose work for soaps, cleansing-style blends, herbal accords, foot products, experimental perfumery, and sharp botanical formulas with thyme, rosemary, basil, marjoram, lemon, tea tree, eucalyptus, cedarwood, or spice.
Oregano Essential Oil needs serious restraint. Used lightly, it gives fierce herbal structure. Used heavily, it can feel harsh, burning, bitter, medicinal, and overwhelming.
Essential oils can be applied topically once diluted with a carrier oil. They are widely used in cosmetic goods and handmade crafts.
