Description
St Johns Wort Essential Oil has a dry herbal aroma with green leaf, pale earth, soft hay, and faint botanical bitterness. It should be described carefully because St John’s Wort is often sold as an infused oil, while the essential oil or volatile fraction is a more specialist aromatic material.
The first impression is green and earthy. After the initial impression, the scent becomes drier and more hay-like, leaving a quiet herbal residue that works well in specialist botanical blends, soaps, balms, body oils, massage blends, natural perfumes, and herbaceous accords with chamomile, helichrysum, lavender, carrot seed, frankincense, myrrh, woods, or earthy notes.
St Johns Wort works best when used for dry herbal depth. Used heavily, it can become dusty, dull, bitter, or too medicinal-herbal.
