Description
D-Panthenol is a water-compatible provitamin ingredient used to give formulations humectant and conditioning behaviour. In skin care it can support a softer, less dry after-feel; in hair and cleansing products it can contribute slip and a smoother conditioned finish.
It is not an oil, so it can add this character without introducing a greasy residue. At higher levels or in certain bases, however, the finished formula may feel tackier, making balance important.
Check the exact concentration and format of the supplied grade before calculating the addition. Incorporate according to the product specification, mix until uniform and evaluate the final pH, viscosity, clarity and stability in the formula as a whole.
