Description
Isopropyl Alcohol 99.8% is a high-purity technical alcohol used for rapid evaporation, controlled dilution and fast drying. Its sharp alcohol odour dissipates quickly because the material flashes off; it should not be described as an aroma chemical with a developing drydown.
Selection should be based on solvency, process requirements, compatibility and the residue expectations of the finished application. Its role is practical rather than decorative.
Isopropyl Alcohol is highly flammable and produces vapour. Use it only with suitable ventilation, ignition control, appropriate storage and full compatibility checks for the intended formulation.

Isopropyl alcohol is miscible in water, ethanol, ether, and chloroform. It dissolves ethyl cellulose, polyvinyl butyral, many oils, alkaloids, gums and natural resins. Isopropyl alcohol is not miscible with salt solutions and can be separated from aqueous solutions by adding a salt such as sodium chloride.
Uses: Isopropyl alcohol is mixed with water for use as a rubbing-alcohol. It is also used in hand sanitisers, aftershave lotions, hand lotions, and other cosmetics.
For external use only. Highly flammable liquid and vapour. Causes serious eye irritation. May cause drowsiness or dizziness.
